The exterior of this fully hand-stitched bifold will be made from Japanese shell cordovan - from Shinki Hikaku - and the interior will be crafted from the finest Italian vegetable tanned leather from Tempesti. All edges will be painted to match the leather. The edges will also be creased with fine, detailed lines. Additionally, the reverse side of the exterior panel will be lined with another piece of Tempesti cowhide. Between the beautiful, full-grain leather and the quality, handmade construction, this wallet will provide years of service and look elegant while doing so.
This bifold wallet features nine pockets total - 6 card slots, 2 hidden pockets behind the card slots and 1 cash slot.
Measures 3.5" tall by 4.25" wide.
Three pocket styles are available - Curved, Sloped or Straight (from left to right)
Shell cordovan is simply most desirable and most gorgeous types of leather in existence. It comes from one very specific area on the horse hide - above the hind legs in the rump section. In this area, the muscle fibers are extremely dense and uniform. Each horse hide only yields 2 or 3 square feet of cordovan at most so it is extremely rare and expensive.
There are only a few tanneries in the world that produce shell cordovan as it is extremely difficult to perfect and very labor intensive to produce. In my opinion, the shell cordovan from Shinki Hikaku (of Himeji, Japan) is the very best. It offers deep, rich colour and has the perfect luster finish rather than being too glossy.
Tempesti is known around the world for producing some of the most beautiful, clean and consistent vegetable tanned leather available. Their vegetable tanned cowhide leather is a full grain leather with a smooth finish that comes in many colour, both bold and natural. This leather remains extremely strong and holds its shape even when split down quite thin. For these reasons, this leather is one of the cornerstones of my work.
Every piece that is commissioned though Oak & Honey is made by one pair of hands - stitched by hand, one stitch at a time. If I am not completely satisfied with the final product, it isn't fit for the client. My mission is to craft something that you will carry with pride for years to come.
Proudly handmade in Toronto, Canada.
